Chatter – Creating private social networks, like Twitter and Facebook, for companies

Browsing the latest news in Delicious I find Chatter a portal that allows any company to create a private social network to communicate only with its employees, in this way they can be better organized and share internal data without the risk that people outside the company know it. To start using Chatter we have to have a company email account, in the case of not having it in the company domain it will not work since the main mail services such as Hotmail, Yahoo! or Gmail does not work. Once we are connected, we can send the invitations to our employees. When we finish configuring the different parameters that the application asks us to, we can start sending statuses, commenting on those of our employees, as well as marking if we like it (much like Facebook). On the other hand, we can upload all kinds of documents to Chatter servers, which once uploaded will be published in the form of a status so that workers can download them to their respective computers. Also, it should be noted that we can create groups to divide our workers, that is, we can create groups where there are only managers, marketing team, human resources, etc. In addition, on the right side we can see the different trends (through hashtags) that our employees use, very similar to what Twitter uses for Trending Topics. In short, an excellent tool for creating social networks very similar to Twitter and Facebook but with the peculiarity that they are private and for the exclusive use of companies.
