Since yesterday, May 10, it is taking place in the San Francisco Moscone Center a practically traditional event on the part of Google, known to all as the Google I / O. This event is used by the company to announce its various news and at the same time present new services or products that users will be able to use from now on. So that you can be aware of everything that happened in the two days of this important event, we share this summary with the main news that was shared in Google I / O 2011.

The first day of Google I / O 2011 had as a clear protagonist the Android mobile operating system, since several announcements were made regarding it, as well as two projects called Android Open Accesory and Android @ Home.

In the case of Android Open AccesoryThis is intended to make device developers a little easier to build Android-compatible products. To explain the operation, a demonstration was carried out in which a Android device was connected to an exercise bike. In that case, the mobile automatically recognized which product it was connected to and at the same time showed the user which application he needed to install in order to control the device. From then on, it will be said user who has to accept the installation of the necessary tool from the Android Market. With this, it is clearly intended that Android is a complementary tool in the management of other devices or products, serving as an assistant not only for the consumer user, but also for developers.

Android @ Home, for its part, comes with the intention of introducing Android into our homes, making our Android device allow us to perform various household tasks. In this case, two different examples were cited. On the one hand, it was shown how with Android @ Home it would be possible turn off or on the lights of our house from the device, as well as it was also mentioned that it would be possible to control the reproduction of music in the different equipment that we may have installed in the home, all without having to leave our Android. to a new version of Android HoneyComb (3.1) that will be launched in the first instance in the United States. Similarly, reference was made to Ice Cream Sandwich, a new version of Android that was inclined to be universal, working for both Tablets and smartphones. The latter not only seeks to ensure that all users can use the same version of the operating system, but it will also make it possible for the team to focus only on one version, providing more specific improvements and updates.

Movie Rentals

One of the novelties that was not on the expected list is that of the Movie Rentals launch, a new Google service that in principle will be available only to users in the United States, who will be able, from their Android devices, to rent high quality movies for a cost of approximately $ 2. The rental conditions are quite good since once we confirm the transaction, we will be able to have the film for 30 days, although once it starts playing, the validity period is reduced to 24 hours.

Google Music

About Google Music It had been talking for a long time, and to put an end to the typical rumors or assumptions, Google has decided to officially present its new music service on the first day of Google I / O 2011 event.

Google Music is a service that is in its beta phase and only works in the United States. With this new product, Google intends that users can have your music on the Internet, providing a certain space to host the files. At the same time, applications for Android, Windows and Mac will be offered so that you can control the playback of the files without having to download them to your computer. Within Google Music, it will be possible to organize the contents by creating playlists, as well as it will be possible to create personalized albums by the user, all with the purpose that the music can be organized just like on the computer, but with the advantage that now it will be in Internet and can be accessed from anywhere.

Google Chrome

As mentioned in Wwwhatsnew, the protagonists of the second day of Google I / O 2011 were Google Chrome and Chrome OS, since not only have some new features been presented, but statistical data related to the different progress that the browser has had from its inception to the current date and version has also been shared.

The first thing that has been mentioned during the second day is about the growth of Google Chrome, comparing their different versions in relation to the number of users. To do this, they used a graph that shows the progress of the browser from version 5 (when it had 70 million users) to the current one, in which it ranges from 160 million, all showing the different advances for versions 6, 7 , 8, 9 and 10, which were presented approximately every one and a half months. After that, a small sample of the new voice recognition system from Google Chrome. In this case, it was decided to open the Google translator, so that just speaking, it was ordered to translate a few words into Chinese, something that was done correctly and without the need to use the peripherals. Nor did they forget the JavaScript, and for that reason they also designed a graph (this time of bars) in which the changes regarding the speed of the mentioned script are reflected in each version of Google Chrome, using only 5 versions as a reference (the Beta version, 1, 5, 9 and 11).

ChromeBooks – Google Laptops

Many people were anxiously waiting for some news related to the new computers laptops equipped with Chrome OS, and that is why the company decided to provide data regarding them, not only mentioning their characteristics and advantages, but also making public the date of the arrival of the equipment in Spain.

Thanks to some agreements, Google will be able to offer its computers with or without contracts in between. For this, it is stated that there will be Samsung and Acer laptops with Chrome OS, which will be sold directly and without contracts at a price of less than $ 500. At the same time, they have made partnerships with some telecommunications companies such as Telefnica to ensure coverage for ChromeBooks around the world. As for the operation of computers, it was ensured that they have processors Intel Dual and that they will work with Flash, as well as some demonstrations of their performance. To do this, it was shown with what speed the equipment was capable of executing a PDF file, something that was later repeated but using a music file and a video file.At the moment a pendrive containing images or files is inserted, the ChromeBook automatically displays the gallery of photos or documents and, with a few clicks, allows you to immediately send the desired file to Picasa (in the case of images) or to Google Docs (in the case of documents) to work with them. notifies that as it is an operating system created completely from scratch and in order to offer security, users will be able to enjoy computers in which they will not have to worry about possible viruses or malware, since everything will be controlled by the user and it will not be possible for such infections to exist. In addition, it will be the same user who will be able to determine the level of security to assign to their ChromeBook, being able to encrypt your data, request verifications when starting the system, etc. Finally, the expected date of launch to the market of computers with Chrome OS is, in the case of Spain and some other countries, on June 15, 2011Therefore, there is little more than a month left for them to have in their hands this curious computer that will surely give a lot to talk about.
