Skyscanner is a well-known flight, hotel and car rental comparator that, founded in 2003, is available in 30 languages. There are 40 million visits a month worldwide, enough numbers to be able to attract the attention of Microsoft, which has signed an agreement with them to integrate their data into the search results of MSN Travel flights.
It is a white label product that Skyscanner offers, something that allows other companies to use their search engine with their own visual identity. In this case, it is MSN that has customized the flight search to maintain the portal's aesthetics.
They tell us from Skyscanner that they already work with 300 different companies with their B2B products, both with white label search engines and with the API that offers data on flights, hotels and car rentals. The private label search engine is currently used by more than 60 companies, including Hipmunk, Rome2Rio, GoEuro, Lonely Planet, Groupon and Rastreator.
It is an important fact, since we often see flight search engines on portals of all kinds and we are left with the question of whether it is our own technology. Even on many occasions we go from one search engine to another without knowing that it is actually the same, from the same database, changing only the presentation layer.
