Reda y Neto – teaching children to protect their personal data.

Reda y Neto is a website created by the Basque Data Protection Agency that teaches students from 9 to 12 years old how to protect the privacy of their personal data through a series of entertaining animations in flash format.

The animations consist of 4 cartoons starring Reda and Neto that intend for the children to acquire the following ideas: 1. You have a lot of personal data and your image is also very important. Your personal data is a treasure, protect it. 3. You have the right not to give all your personal data. 4. The personal data of others does not belong to you, but protect it as if it were yours.

Each animation is accompanied by questions for oral group discussion and practical activities on-line and off-line in the classroom, which allow the ideas conveyed by the adventures to be experienced in real contexts. In addition, activities to be carried out with the family are presented, the objective of which is also to sensitize them to their educational role in the use of information and communication technologies.

It is a very interesting and useful proposition that allows children to get started naturally in data protection, an area that will be fundamental for the use of technology throughout their lives.
