Canon has just officially unveiled its two new mirrorless, interchangeable-lens, and full-size sensor cameras, sharing most of the features, although the EOS R5 stands out as the company’s flagship, embracing the possibility of make video recordings at 8K resolution in 12-bit RAW format, among other interesting features.

For its part, the EOS R6 is the most affordable option that has to settle for 4K video recordings at 10 bits and 60 fps maximum. It is also the most affordable option, although it also has an impressive list of features.

Canon EOS R5

This impressive model debuts the 45MP full-size Dual Pixel CMOS AF II sensor, which will be accompanied by the DIGIC X processor, also present in the Canon EOS-1D X III. As we pointed out, it will be able to make impressive 8K 12-bit video recordings in RAW format, at 30 fps maximum, although it is also capable of recording 4K video at 120 fps. The five-axis stabilization system built into the body and the Dual Pixel autofocus system play an important role.

In addition to having an ISO range of 100 to 51,200 expandable to 102,400, it will allow recordings in 4: 2: 2 at 10 bits under C-Log and HDR PQ systems, making it an ideal option for professionals and video enthusiasts, although thanks to its articulated screen, it will also be an ideal choice for video bloggers.

On the other hand, in the photographic section, this model is capable of capturing images in JPEG, RAW and 10-bit HEIF formats, the latter capable of offering more details than JPEGs but at a smaller size than RAW.

It is the younger brother, that although it shares most of the characteristics, this model is satisfied with a 20.1 MP full-size sensor, being able to make 4K videos at 30 fps maximum, with a slight cropping of the area of ​​the camera. sensor.

In addition, the resolution of the electronic viewfinder is cut from the EOS R5, it houses two Dual UHS-II SD card slots instead of supporting a CFexpress card and an SD card, and has less protection against dust and water.

For the rest, it practically maintains the rest of the characteristics of the EOS R5, being also compatible with batteries and grips. Its price will also be somewhat lower, at $ 2,499 just the body, with the arrival scheduled for the month of August.
